LMFAO is an American electro pop duo formed by rappers, producers, dancers, and DJs Redfoo (Stefan Kendal Gordy) and his nephew SkyBlue (Skyler Austen Gordy) in 2006 in Los Angeles, California. RedFoo is also the son of music mogul Berry Gordy, and SkyBlu is his grandson. The themes of their songs are based on partying and drinking, and the group calls its music style as "party rock". The group's name is an abbreviation for Laughing My Fucking Ass Off. LMFAO’s influences come from very different music genres: Tupac Shakur, The Black Eyed Peas, James Brown and Michael Jackson, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. LMFAO won the Hip-Hop Nation Awards in 2010 for the best rap record and best rap group, and won again in 2012 for the NRJ Music Awards 2012, where they triumphed as International Group/Duo of the Year and Favourite Music Video of the Year. LMFAO released their first Party Rock EP on the iTunes music store on July 1, 2008, and released their full album on July 7, 2009. In early 2009 DJ Inphinity created a bootleg called Bass Kick in Miami, spreading a big success and becoming the theme song for the E! television show Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami. In mid 2010, they were featured in Gettin' Over You by David Guetta, which was an international hit, peaking top ten in eleven countries and three of them at number one, including UK. In 2011, LMFAO flown to Asia for their first Asian tour. They performed in Singapore, Manila, Philippines, Taipei, Taiwan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, among other cities. On June 30, 2011, LMFAO performed a set on the Isle of MTV 2011 Malta Special on the Fosos (Granaries) in Floriana, Malta, in front of a crowd of 50.000, together with Far East Movement and Snoop Dogg. The next Sorry for Party Rocking Tour will feature LMFAO, The Party Rock Crew and special guests Far East Movement, The Quest Crew, Sidney Samson, Eva Simons and Natalia Kills.
